Larger than the home-swallow, this swallow measures about 14 centimeters. It has very long wings and its plumage is predominantly brown, except for the belly and the beginning of the tail, which are white. It feeds on insects such as termites, ants, flies and bees. Saw-swallows are seen flying in small flocks or perched on posts and wires. They can be easily seen along the Campus of Praia Vermelha.
