This little hummingbird has been adapting more and more to urban environments. It measures between 8.5 and 11 centimeters, producing with the flapping of wings a very characteristic hum when flying. Its plumage is predominantly green, having white color only in the frontal region, from the height of the belly to the tail. In good light, this hummingbird has brighter tones. It has a very flashy red beak. It is very agile and feeds on flower nectar. It can be seen throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha in flowered areas.
