Another bird very similar to Great Kiskadee, but of smaller size, measuring between 16 and 18 centimeters in length. Visually, it differs from Great Kiskadee by the black belt at eye level, which is much thicker, and by the shorter beak. It also has a plume, this one of red color, which is rarely shown. It feeds on insects and berries and usually sings a lot. This species can be easily spotted at the Praia Vermelha Campus.
