It is a bird known especially for its nests, built as if they were a little clay house. It measures between 18 and 20 centimeters and is completely brown, with the exception of the lighter neck. It has a very strong and easy to identify corner. It is commonly seen singing on tree branches and walking on land or grass looking for clay for nests and food, such as earthworms, grains and fruits. It can be seen and heard throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha. There are records of houses of Rufous Hornero built inside the Campus.
