Popularly known as "Noivinha", this species is usually seen near water bodies. The masked washer measures between 14 and 16 centimeters and is easily recognized by its plumage, totally white, with the exception of the wings, tail and the black mask, which gives the name to the species. They vocalize a lot and can be seen waving their wings in a kind of "dance" when they are excited. Their nests can be built on top of poles or even in low shrubs, being visible to human eyes. They feed on small arthropods, which hunt in the grass or in the mud. They can be seen along the Campus of Praia Vermelha, having already registered nests of the species inside the Campus.
