Myiarchus ferox
IOC English name:
Short-crested Flycatcher
A very discreet bird, the Short-crested Flycatcher measures around 19 centimeters. It has a gray plumage, with white tones on the chest and yellow on the belly. Very skillful, it feeds mainly on insects, which it catches in flight, but it also eats small fruits. Identical to other species of the same family, the best way to recognize it is by its short, trilling song. It can occasionally be seen on the Praia Vermelha Campus.
