This species is almost identical to Great Kiskadee, with the main difference being its beak, which is larger and flatter, and its singing, which is strong and can be easily identified. Measuring between 21 and 23 centimeters, the Boat-billed Flycatcher usually inhabits the top of the trees, occasionally perching to sing. It feeds primarily on fruits and insects, but it can also prey on small reptiles, young birds and small fish. It can be heard easily throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha, but it is difficult to observe.
