Named the bird-symbol of Brazil, the orange thrush is one of the best known birds in the country. It has been the subject of countless singing celebrating its beauty and melodic singing. Measures between 20 and 25 centimeters. Its plumage is brown, with the exception of the belly, which is orange, making the bird unmistakable. It feeds, essentially, on insects and fruits. It is a territorial bird, which usually gets more aggressive with other birds in the reproductive period. He starts to sing before dawn and, during the breeding season, his beautiful singing can be heard all day. It can be easily seen and heard throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha, and there are already records of nests of the species within the Campus.
