Generally seen as an "urban plague", the domestic pigeon is the most common pigeon species in the country, due to its great adaptation to the urban environment. It usually has a gray or bluish-black color, with black spots on the wings and the head in darker tones, with purple and greenish colors in the neck area. It measures between 28 and 38 centimeters. It has a varied diet, including grains, organic remains and fruits. They are very common and can be seen throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha, with the registration of nests within the Campus.
