The kind of dove better known by cariocas. Measures between 12 and 18 centimeters. Its body is brownish, dotted with small black spots, while the head tends to have lighter tones. They can be seen in small groups, lodged in trees and on high tension wires, or foraging the soil in search of grains. They usually fight with each other and can be seen occasionally with one wing raised to attack their opponents. They are very common and can be seen throughout the Campus of Praia Vermelha.
