IOC English name:
White-collared Swift
Bird that is usually sighted in flocks, flying to great heights. It is between 20 and 22 centimeters and its coloration is all dark gray, with a white band around the neck. His feet are so small that he can't land "standing", not even clinging to wires or tree branches. He can rest by clinging to rocky walls, using his claws as hooks. It takes advantage of its long wings to hunt insects in flight. It can be seen occasionally flying over the Campus da Praia Vermelha in large flocks of dozens of individuals.
