A beautiful parakeet that usually walks in small flocks in the forest areas of the city. Measuring between 24 and 28 centimeters, its plumage is greenish, with yellow tones on the chest, red on the belly and tail. It has a white ring around the eyes and a brown "ear" in addition to red feathers near the beak. Its color varies a lot according to the light. The species' flocks vocalize a lot in flight and feed on fruits, seeds and nuts. A small flock has already been spotted feeding on campus, most likely coming from the MONA (Monumento Natural dos Morros Pão de Açúcar e Urca) region.
